1940s Still Life Composition Painting with Fruit and Giant Clam
Well painted still life composition painting of a giant clam, pears and figs. Although the subject is grounded in a traditional format, the colors, brush strokes and layered flatness lend itself to hints of the modern masters found in context with the time this was item was painted. Set in original 1940s wood frame. The linen/canvas is stretch and secured using hammered tacks and not staples. There were two tears in the canvas, visible from behind. They are the professionally repaired patchwork remnants.
