Mixed-Media Painting in Relief by Arthur Secunda
This mixed-media painting is composed of layers of receding painted card-stock producing an image in relief. The technique gives the piece a topographical, geological or planetary effect. The warm red/yellow stands in stark contrast to the cool upper portion of the picture. Signed “Secunda” and editioned “46/50”. Arthur Secunda was born in New Jersey in 1927 and established a career in Paris, France, and on both the East and West coasts and Arizona. He is a painter, collage artist, sculptor, teacher, and graphic artist. He is especially noted for his richly colored collages and skill with printmaking, having received two grants from the Tamarind Lithography Workshop.
