Mixed-Media Painting in Relief by Arthur Secunda
This mixed-media painting is composed of layers of receding painted card-stock producing an image in relief. The technique gives the piece a topographical, geological or planetary effect. The warm red, yellow and pinks stand in contrast to the collaged map showing areas of France with Versailles and Paris at center. Signed “Secunda” and editioned “37/50.” Arthur Secunda was born in New Jersey in 1927 and established a career in Paris, France and on both the East and West coasts and Arizona. He is a painter, collage artist, sculptor, teacher and graphic artist. He is especially noted for his richly colored collages and skill with printmaking, having received two grants from the Tamarind Lithography Workshop.
