This ceramic sculpture features two people, a father with his daughter on his back in a warm embrace and smiling. Signed on bottom "Leroy Benjamin" Hillside 1959" near base. This sculptor was so good for rendering the feeling expressions on his characters faces! Le Roy Benjamin (1917–1997) was the sculptor and manipulator of the marionettes as well as the voice impersonator for a vaudeville and television act called the Le Roy Brothers Marionettes. After vaudeville, LeRoy and his wife Etta continued their creative entrepreneurial success as a framing and Fine art business called the Hillside House of Originals, and then they leased out their production space to BET (Black Entertainment Television) for several years.
