The piece sits in its original blue frame.
Most people familiar with the artist's work likely know him only by the signature "Halessie" a name he adopted during the Civil Rights era. Hale was the 1992 featured artist for the United Arts Council of Greensboro's African American Arts Festival. He died in 1996.
