Lorraine Ginsburg was an insightful and prolific artist born in the Bronx in 1929. She passed away in 2020. She experimented extensively, playing with abstract forms or executing multiple studies of a model in charcoal or pencil. Her work was primarily paintings and drawings but also includes several sculptures and mixed media pieces.
In her last years of life, Lorraine Ginsburg’s art perfectly exemplified the subtle usage of skilful employment of abstraction to revolutionise our approach towards interpretation in a metaphysical dialogue with ourselves.
This litho is a prime example of the constructivist movement in its general allure and principles, rigorous geometric composition, and, consequently, non-figurative approach. The geometric shapes are simple, such as circles, triangles, and cubes.
The piece is hand signed and numbered 11/12.
The artist’s talent lies in his ability to offer an association of forms, the line as the direction of static forces and their rhythm, the colours that absorb light, and the whole occupying space in a seamless balance. The work's composition becomes the most important element embodying the concept of form’s absolute superiority.
