"Pour Roby" Etching by Pablo Picasso

Applying a precious quality to the limitation of line, Picasso has captured the character of a close friend: Robert Godet, also known as Roby.
Picasso initially drew this portrait for his friend. He later etched the portrait onto a printing plate so that Roby could include the print in his book L’Age de Soleil.
Picasso signed and titled on the copper plate; the artist's signature and the piece's title are reversed in the print.
