This unique double-sided work in the neo-cubist style bursts with vibrant color and fractured geometry. The painting exhibits a Cubist and Modernist abstract style, featuring bold colors and geometric shapes. One side depicts a seated figure rendered in angular planes of yellow, orange, and blue; the other, a fiery red-toned abstraction of intersecting faces and forms. Both sides highlight rhythmic shapes, bold palettes, and the dynamism of cubism reimagined.

About the artist
McConnell was known as a "master of silkscreen" and created many modernist images using this technique, which is consistent with the visual characteristics of the print in the image.
His work often incorporated "Jazz" motifs, and the figures in the painting could be interpreted within this context.
